I found an iPhone/iPod how do I report it?
If you found an iPhone/iPod, check for an ID at the bottom of the display after you power it on. It should be a 7 digit code followed by ´ID:´. If you cannot find an ID or the phone does not turn on then use the 11 digit serial number on the lower back of the phone. Once you have located the ID or the serial number go to our home page and click on the bottom tab that says, "If you found an iPhone/iPod Report it here". Follow the instructions on that page. Make sure if the phone has an ID on the display that you enter that first. If there is no ID then try using the serial number. If we cannot find the iPhone/iPod in our database, please try again at a later time the owner may soon register with us.

I lost my iPhone/iPod, what do I do?
If you have already registered with us you are in good shape because the instructions should be on the display. If you have not registered then please register now. The finder will hopefully find this site and can enter the serial number and get in contact with you. Once you are registered, you should be able to sign in and see any messages that came from the finder. It is a good idea to test this yourself to make sure you are getting the proper message when your device is reported found.

What is the ID and why not use the serial number?
The ID is used for convenience so the owners and finders do not have to use the serial number. The ID is generated automatically to make it easier on the owner during registration. It is also easier for the finder to see as the serial number is very small and may be hidden by certain accessory products. However, we allow the owner to register their serial number as well. This gives the finder an option of using the ID or the serial number when they report the phone.

How come I cannot download wallpaper directly to my iPhone/iPod?
The iPhone/iPod does not allow file uploading or file downloading. For this reason, the browse button will be disabled. This is a limitation on the iPhone/iPod and not this site. You will need to use iTunes to transfer the wallpaper to your phone.

Where is the ID?
If the phone has an ID registered on this site, you will see the ID in the center at the bottom of the LCD. It will be a 7 digit code followed by ´ID:´. It will be underneath the flashing ´Slide to unlock´ control. If you cannot find the ID and are trying to report the phone, use the serial number.

Where is the serial number?
The serial number is located on the lower back of the phone. It is in very fine print following ´Serial No:´.

How does the finder of my phone contact me?
When the finder of your phone reports the phone on this site they are required to enter their email address. When you sign in, you will see their email address and a message if they choose to leave one for you. You should send an email back to the owner and make arrangements to retrieve the phone.

How do I set up my browser to save the wallpaper to the right folder?
First you need to determine which folder iTunes uses to synch photos to your phone. Open iTunes and select the photo tab to determine which folder iTunes uses. Once you have determined the folder, you need to set up your web browser to save the image there. It is different for each of the major web browsers.

Safari: Go to Edit >> Preferences >> General. You should see an option ´Save downloaded files to:´. Choose the folder corresponding to your iTunes photo sync folder. When you download the image, it will go to this folder and then you just need to connect your iPhone/iPod and sync the folder.

Firefox: Go to Tools >> Options >> Main. You should see an option ´Save files to:´. You can browse and select the folder corresponding to your iTunes photo sync folder.

Internet Explorer: Internet explorer allows you to select the folder at the time you download the file. When you are prompted with a dialog box asking you where to put the file, choose the folder corresponding to your iTunes photo sync folder.

Which image formats do you support?
We currently support JPEG (.jpg) and GIF (.gif). The wallpaper is downloaded as a GIF file.

How can I be sure a finder´s message will reach me?
The system has been tested extensively however we encourage you to report your own device found to test the system so that you feel comfortable with it. You should then log in to ensure that you are properly getting messages from those who find your device.
